While our primary users and clients are academic authors and researchers, we are increasingly developing innovative products and services for other user groups such as patients and consumers.

We are looking to hire a talented Journal Marketing and Outreach Professional to join our team to help us in our overall marketing efforts. You will be an integral part of the development and execution of marketing plans to reach targets from brand awareness to product promotion and author submissions. Our ideal candidate has the ability to translate data and research into actionable marketing plans that inform branding with campaign development and show a clear return on investment.



  • Working in conjunction with the Marketing Director & Head of Marketing Insights & Analysis in launching and monitoring results of relevant campaigns.

  • Brainstorm and develop ideas for creative marketing campaigns

  • Reviewing workflows and contact points with the Marketing Director for messaging opportunities - when appropriate liaising with the Head of Marketing Insights & Analysis on messaging

  • Copywriting and content creation for sales and marketing communications to solicit and increase customer engagement; ushering customers through defined funnels and drip campaigns.

  • Accountable for increasing author/institutional engagement throughout the customer journey by increasing engagement, usage and consumption of content and services in accordance with the marketing strategy.

  • Utilizing customer (HubSpot CRM Hub, Marketing Hub, Sales Hub) and industry insights, historical trends and published content to develop and execute innovative marketing strategies, campaigns and programs that deliver results aligned to key business objectives.

  • Measure performance and report against goals (ROI and KPIs). Continually testing and optimizing campaigns for conversions during defined intervals.

  • Developing and planning budgets in conjunction with the Marketing Director (campaign level & fiscal year level)

  • Portfolio-wide survey of stakeholders to inform strategy and campaigns (editorial boards, internal departments to identify strengths/weaknesses and assets to advertise)

  • Working closely with vendors, agencies and marketing/comms departments of other organizations.

  • Either running or assisting Editorial Strategist in small-scale sponsorship or journal-specific events

  • Utilize relationship building skills to assist in content development for the blog & assist in layout

  • Collaborate with team members to optimize marketing automation and lead-nurturing processes through email, content, events, and social channels

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Ability to work across many teams and maintain relationships across stakeholders (editors, counterparts at partner organizations, etc)

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills to set and adhere to campaign/project timelines

  • Scholarly marketing publishing experience

  • Knowledge of Open Access Publishing

  • Hubspot



  • 2-3 years of experience within a scholarly publishing, or author facing digital marketing environment

  • Hands-on experience with a marketing automation platform (HubSpot preferred) and experience with Design Tools (Adobe CS), Google Suite, Google Ads, Google Analytics and all social media channels preferred. Experience with traditional marketing promotional elements as well.

  • Open Access Scholarly Publishing marketing experience


  • Ability to work across many teams and maintain relationships across stakeholders (editors, counterparts at partner organizations, etc)
